(WJHL) – Tennessee redshirt-freshman quarterback Nico Iamaleava was one of the 80 college football players to be named to the Preseason Maxwell Award Watch List on Monday.
Tribe focused on controlling the trenches in 2024 The honor is handed out to the most outstanding college football player in the nation each season.
Iamaleava is one of 41 quarterbacks on the list and is joined by 14 other players from the Southeastern Conference.
The No. 1 player in the Class of 2023 finished last season having completed 28-of-45 passes for 314 yards a two touchdowns. He added 71 rushing yards and three scores on the ground.
Iamaleava will be one of the players available for questions as the Vols report to preseason camp on Tuesday.
