Tony Vitello is making another addition to his Tennessee baseball staff.

Former Cincinnati pitching coach Josh Reynolds is joining the Vols' staff in a hybrid role that will see Reynolds work with the pitchers while also filling a support staff role, a source with direct knowledge told Knox News on Wednesday. The source requested anonymity because the hiring has not been made official.

Reynolds spent one season at Cincinnati and has been in college baseball for more than two decades. Reynolds previously coached at Colorado, Northwestern and Kansas State. He was a third-round pick by the New York Mets in the 2000 MLB Draft and spent time in the minor leagues before shifting to coaching in 2004.

Reynolds will help fill some of the duties on the operations side after Chad Zurcher left his director of baseball operations role for a job on on the athletics business side at UT .

Vitello's three full-time assistants are Frank Anderson, Josh Elander and Ross Kivett. Kivett was hired to rejoin the staff after spending the past three seasons at Houston, where he rose to the title of associate head coach. Anderson and Elander have been the pitching coach and hitting coach, respectively, through all seven of Vitello's seasons at Tennessee.

Kivett likely will work with Tennessee's infielders, while baserunning and hitting are among his areas of expertise. He's also a high-level recruiter.

Kivett filled the final full-time assistant coach role, replacing Richard Jackson, who decided to leave for a job outside baseball. Jackson worked closely with the pitching staff and Anderson. Jackson stepped into the volunteer assistant coach position after Kivett left then was promoted to assistant coach. Jackson pitched for the Vols from 2015-19.

Quentin Eberhardt is the strength and conditioning coach. He was hired by the Chicago Cubs in December 2021, but returned to UT in June 2022. Luke Bonfield is the director of player development and Parker Serrano is the student assistant coach.
