    Four Tennessee schools make 2024 best value colleges list by Princeton Review

    Looking for a college in Tennessee that delivers the most value for the cost? Four schools fit the bill, according to the 2024 Best Value Colleges list released this month by The Princeton Review.

    The list, which includes 209 schools this year, combines more than 40 data points from the schools and student surveys, according to the publication's website. It reflects academic rigor, affordability, positive career outcomes for graduates and other factors. The publication considers whether the school is low-cost compared to others, offers generous financial aid or both. The data was collected from fall 2023 through this spring.

    Here's a look at the four Tennessee schools that made the list this year.

    Rhodes College

    Rhodes College is a private liberal arts and sciences college founded in 1948 that prides itself on rigorous academics offered in an urban setting.

    • Enrollment: 1,936
    • Applicants: 5,904
    • Acceptance rate: 50%

    University of Tennessee, Knoxville

    Founded in 1794, the University of Tennessee, Knoxville is a public university and the flagship campus of the UT System, nestled into the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains.

    • Location: Knoxville
    • Enrollment: 28,883
    • Applicants: 50,488
    • Acceptance rate: 46%

    The University of the South

    The University of the South, which was founded in 1856, is a private university that takes advantage of its picturesque location atop the Cumberland Plateau and gets students outside as much as possible.

    • Location: Sewanee
    • Enrollment: 1,615
    • Applicants: 4,966
    • Acceptance rate: 51%

    Vanderbilt University

    Vanderbilt University, first established in 1873, is private university that sprawls out across 340 acres in Midtown Nashville and is world-renowned for its research and medical school.

    • Applicants: 45,313
    • Acceptance rate: 6%
