One of the Tennessee Vols' top 2026 recruiting targets announced that he plans to reveal his commitment next week.

2026 four-star tight end Carson Sneed tweeted on Thursday that he plans to announce his commitment on August 5.

Ohio State, Auburn, Ole Miss, Louisville, and Tennessee are the five programs in the mix to land Sneed.

Sneed, 6-foot-5/235 lbs from Nashville, TN, is rated in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 8 tight end in the nation and the No. 5 player in the state of Tennessee.

It would be quite a surprise if Sneed doesn't commit to Tennessee on August 5.

Sneed's older brother, Dayton, is a redshirt freshman wide receiver at Tennessee.

Last month, Rivals.com's Adam Gorney noted that the rumor in the recruiting industry is that Tennessee leads by a wide margin for Sneed.

"The rumor has been that Tennessee leads by a wide margin for the 2026 four-star tight end from Nashville (Tenn.) Donelson Christian Academy and that has continued in recent months as the Vols have made him a top priority," wrote Gorney . "Missouri, Ole Miss and Ohio State are battling it out but it would be no shock if Sneed landed in Knoxville."

Tennessee doesn't currently have any players committed to its 2026 recruiting class.
