A former Tennessee Vols standout was featured this week in a clip with Los Angeles Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh that quickly went viral.

Former Tennessee wide receiver Josh Palmer, a third round selection by the Chargers in the 2021 NFL Draft, is entering his first season playing under Harbaugh in Los Angeles (Harbaugh took over as the Chargers' head coach after leading Michigan to a national championship last season).

Earlier this week, the Chargers' official Twitter/X.com account tweeted a video of Harbaugh chatting with Palmer during training camp.

In the clip, Palmer asks Harbaugh what kind of quarterback he was during his playing days (Harbaugh was a first round pick in 1987 and spent over a decade in the NFL). Harbaugh told Palmer his playing style was somewhere in between Lamar Jackson and Tom Brady.

At one point during the clip, Harbaugh hilariously tells Palmer that he had more career rushing yards than Bo Jackson (which is true -- Harbaugh had 2,787 rushing yards while Jackson had 2,782....but Harbaugh played in 139 more career games than Jackson).

Harbaugh also offered Palmer some sage advice -- play as long as you can before getting into coaching.

Palmer, who played at Tennessee from 2017 to 2020, is poised to have a breakout season for the Chargers in 2024. With Keenan Allen off to the Chicago Bears, Palmer is in position to step up as the team's top wide receiver. Palmer has 173 receptions for 1,703 yards and nine touchdowns through his first three seasons in the NFL.
