Sedgwick County Commissioners approved the county's 2025 budget Wednesday afternoon.

The $563.4 million budget is being supported by a property tax levy of nearly $199.6 million.

Chairman Ryan Baty said the budget process is a balance but added he's not sure how much more taxation county residents can take.

Commissioner David Dennis was the lone no vote on the budget. One of the budget items he disagreed with was to continue $80 thousand in funding to broadcast county meetings on KPTS next year. Viewership on Meta and YouTube is higher than on KPTS, he said, and cost significantly less.

The budget is being supported by a property tax levy of nearly $199.6 million. The county's mill levy of 28.659 mills is the lowest in 27 years.

Commissioner Sarah Lopez said an incredible amount of work went into the budget and like others on the board, thanked county staff for their tireless work.
