    Murder suspect arrested in N. Wichita

    Police have arrested a 23-year-old man from Wichita on a charge of First-Degree Murder. This arrest follows the investigation into the fatal shooting of 39-year-old Kyce Barnes in the west part of Wichita, which occurred on a week ago, east of Kellogg & Tyler; Barnes' body was found wrapped in blood-stained bedding in the trunk of a car. He'd suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

    Investigators determined the murder happened nearby at the Delux Inn at 8401 W. Kellogg. The suspect was being held without bond.

    The arrest took place Tuesday in the 1800 block of N. Hillside, made possible through the collaborative efforts of several Wichita Police Department units, including the Patrol Officers, Field Community Response Team, the NIBIN Enforcement Team, the Domestic Intervention and Violence Reduction Team, K9 Officers, the Special Investigations Bureau, Homicide Investigators, and more.

    The case will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office for formal charging consideration.
