The McPherson county courthouse was evacuated Thursday after receiving a bomb threat. According to the McPherson Police Department, the threat turned out to be false. McPherson PD said a courthouse employee received a call just before 2:45 p.m. saying that a bomb in the building would detonate in 3 minutes.

Courthouse employees evacuated the building while McPherson police officers, McPherson County sheriff’s deputies, and the McPherson Fire Department searched the area for anything suspicious.  No dangerous items were found.

In a Facebook post the McPherson Police Department says, “The safety and well-being of our community is our priority and we ask everyone to stay vigilant. If you SEE or HEAR SOMETHING SUSPICIOUS, PLEASE SAY SOMETHING.”
