    One arrested after south Wichita shooting

    Wichita Police arrested one suspect after a shooting Sunday evening. According to the WPD; at approximately 6:15 p.m. on Sunday, October 27, officers responded to a shooting call in the 1600 block of S. Hydraulic. Before their arrival, officers were informed that the suspect had fled the scene on foot.

    Upon arrival, officers located a 26-year-old Wichita male with a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

    As officers investigated, they identified and located a suspect. The suspect, whom police have only identified as 24-year-old Wichita male, attempted to evade arrest. During the pursuit, the suspect tried to carjack a vehicle from a 51-year-old Wichita male in the 2100 block of S. Pattie. Due to the response of officers the attempted carjacking was prevented, and the suspect was apprehended without further incident. The suspect was armed with a handgun at the time of his arrest.

    The suspect was booked into jail on charges of Attempted Murder, Attempted Carjacking, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Obstruction, and Possession of Paraphernalia.
