Eight billionaires with Arkansas ties make Forbes’ list of richest Americans

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Eight billionaires with Arkansas ties are among the wealthiest in the United States, according to Forbes’ list of the 400 Richest People in America .

The 400 featured in the publication’s annual list have a combined net worth of $5.4 trillion, up $1 trillion from the previous year, Forbes said. The top 12 all have net worths of more than $100 billion.

Jim Walton, one of Walmart founder Sam Walton’s children, is the richest person in Arkansas with a net worth of $95.9 billion. He ranks as the 13th-richest person in America.

It’s likely not a surprise to see so many Waltons on the list. The Waltons were named the richest family in America earlier this year by Forbes and Business Insider as their wealth grew by more than $53 billion since the start of 2024.

Alice Walton became the richest woman in the world in September after surpassing French L’Oreal heiress Francoise Bettencourt.

Lukas Walton is the youngest billionaire on the list at age 38.

Elon Musk topped the list as the richest person in America with a net worth of $244 billion. Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, Larry Ellison and Warren Buffett round out the top five.
