Arrest made after child dies in Fort Smith vehicle-pedestrian accident

FORT SMITH, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — An arrest has been made after a 13-year-old male was killed in a vehicle-pedestrian accident.

Fort Smith Police Department (FSPD) responded to the accident that occurred on Kelley Highway and 44th Street at around 5:09 p.m. on Oct. 11.

The driver of the vehicle stayed on scene and cooperated with authorities, and was later arrested for “suspected impairment,” according to a news release.

FSPD’s investigation is ongoing, and no more details have been released at this time.
