Crafters gather in Hindsville for 70th War Eagle Fair

HINDSVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Sunday marked the final day of the 70th annual War Eagle Fair in Hindsville.

With more than 250 booths, vendors showed off a variety of handcrafted products, putting some of the best that the Ozark region has to offer on full display.

Vendors came in from Arkansas, Texas and Louisiana. Visitors from as far as Alaska and Australia were also in attendance.

Katie Templin, the executive director for the War Eagle Fair said she was nervous about this year’s fair due to the downed trees from the Memorial Day weekend tornadoes not leaving the vendors a space to set up.

However, the War Eagle Mill put in the hours and built barns so the fair could go on without missing a beat.

“We wanted to be a safe space for creatives to come out to display the things that they get to do and there’s not a whole lot of it, its kind of a lost art there’s not a whole lot of places that you can display handcrafted items so we try to be that space for people,” Templin said.

The craft fair had food trucks and lemonade stands and every parking lot was packed.

Templin, who has been to many craft fairs since she was a little girl, says it was a blessing to see everyone at the mill like nothing changed.

Dates for the 71st edition of the fair have not yet been announced.
