    Power crews continue assessing damage in Benton County

    FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Monday morning thousands of residents in northern Arkansas are still left without electricity.

    Carroll Electric’s Vice President Cory Smith said that damage assessments are being continued, but they hope to fully assess the storm damage by the end of the day. Smith said that the estimated times of restoration are still uncertain.

    Power Outage U.S. still has reported more than 40,000 outages in Benton County, Madison County has more than 1,000, and Carroll County has more than 4,000 reports.

    Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO) said that as of 9 a.m. approximately 15,000 customers are without power and more than 300 power poles have snapped.

    “Estimated times of restoration will be made available once assessors have completed their work,” a news release from SWEPCO said.

    As of 8 a.m., SWEPCO said they have restored about 5,000 NWA customer’s power.

    SWEPCO customers can sign up for status alerts on the website .

    Nearly 30% of Benton County residents do not have power, according to PowerOutage.us.
