    Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders signs executive order adding funds for disaster recovery

    LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The extent of needs after the May 24 storms across Arkansas have led the governor to release additional funds for recovery aid.

    Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders signed an executive order on Wednesday adding an additional $750,000 in funding for recovery. The order states the money will be drawn from the Governor’s Disaster Response and Recovery Fund for use by the Department of Emergency Management.

    National Weather Service confirms at least 12 tornadoes in Arkansas during Memorial Day weekend

    OEM will use the money at its discretion to defray program and administrative cost, the order stated.

    The Wednesday order was an update to the initial executive order signed May 26 after the weather emergency.

    On Memorial Day weekend a series of storms crossed northern Arkansas destroying buildings, with eight people killed. At least seven tornadoes were recorded, with the highest being classed EF-3.
