JOHNSON COUNTY, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has called for a convention in Johnson County to fill the vacant Republican nominee for Justice of the Peace for District 10.

According to a press release from Sanders, this comes after former nominee, Jeremy Hatchet, formally withdrew from the General Election as a result of unavoidable illness.

This creates a vacancy in the Republican nomination for the Justice of the Peace, District 10 position.

According to the release, Hatchet was confirmed as the nominee after results from the March 5, 2024, primary election were certified.

Now, Sanders is calling for a special convention of delegates of the Johnson County Republican Committee to fill the vacant nomination no later than Tuesday, August 20.
