Boil order issued for part of Avoca

Avoca, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — On August 16, the Arkansas Department of Health issued a boil water notice for the area at the corner of Quail Road and Mockingbird Lane and further east in Avoca.

This precautionary measure was taken due to a potential contamination of the water supply from a main break, according to a release from Benton County Water District #1.

Affected customers are advised to boil water used for drinking or food preparation for one minute before use, as the water may be unsafe. Discard any ice cubes made from unboiled water and use only boiled water for making ice.

The notice will be lifted once two sets of bacteriological samples confirm that the water is free of contamination and an adequate disinfectant level is established in the distribution system.
