PEA RIDGE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — A celebration of life was held to honor 14-year-old Gavin Bivens, who died last month in a dirt bike crash.

Bivens was a freshman at Pea Ridge Junior High and actively participated in sports, including his favorite game, kickball.

In remembrance, his friends, family and community members came together for a kickball tournament on Aug. 17.

The event allowed those who knew Gavin to celebrate his life and pay tribute in a meaningful way, according to his family.

“He showed respect to a lot of people, so I feel like everyone’s giving it back,” Lane Boohel, a friend of Bivens, said.
