Ballot approved for Siloam Springs Sunday alcohol sales

SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — The Benton County Quorum Court approved a resolution on August 22 allowing a ballot initiative for Sunday alcohol sales in Siloam Springs to appear on the November 5 ballot.

This comes after the Committee of the Whole recommended the resolution to the court on August 14.

“It’s called a special election, but it’s still on the regular November ballot. Doesn’t mean the quorum court is taking a position on that. The only role of the quorum court is to put it on the ballot, so in this case, the citizens of Siloam Springs can decide that issue,” Benton County Judge Barry Moehring said.

Also at the quorum court meeting, the Bella Vista Patriots presented a United States flag that flew over the nation’s capitol to Basia Berner.

Berner is a resident of Bella Vista who was in the Polish Corps and was on active duty with the Polish army for five years during World War II.

Berner was recently in Poland to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the outbreak of the Warsaw uprising and was recognized by the president of Poland for her distinguished military service.
