Two Fayetteville junior high schools to receive new buildings, keep names

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Two junior high schools in Fayetteville are getting new buildings, but the district has voted to keep their existing names.

Both Ramay Junior High and Woodland Junior High School will still exist next year but in different buildings.

The district voted on August 22 to keep the existing names, according to Superintendent John Mulford.

“The main reason behind that, through discussion, was just the proud traditions that both have established and recognizing that work and maintaining tradition moving forward,” Mulford said.

As for the current buildings both of these schools reside in, Mulford says the current Woodland building will be converted into a middle school, but that a plan for the current Ramay building has yet to be decided.

Mulford says that they plan to the Ramay building at the high school level.
