AAA reporting Arkansas gas prices continue dropping heading into Labor Day

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – AAA reports Arkansas drivers will pay slightly less for gas going into the Labor Day weekend.

AAA announced Thursday that the gas price average for the Natural State was $3 per gallon for regular unleaded. This represents a 6-cent drop from a week ago and a 41-cent drop compared to a year ago.

In central Arkansas, the Little Rock—North Little Rock metro is slightly below the state average of $3 at $2.99 per gallon, a 5-cent drop from pump prices a week ago.

Hot Springs and Pine Bluff are slightly above the average at $3.01 and $3.04, respectively. AAA reported both cities were 3 cents higher a week ago.

The highest gas prices in the state are in Montgomery County, at $3.27 per gallon, while the lowest is in Randolph County, at $2.84.

The agency reported that increasing demand going into Labor Day, coupled with fluctuations in crude oil prices, could soon lead to possible price increases.

“The statewide gas price average is 41 cents less per gallon compared to Labor Day last year,” AAA spokesperson Nick Chabarria said. “That’s good news for drivers planning road trips this weekend, though pump price declines may soon be over.”

The national average gas price is $3.37 per gallon. AAA reported that Arkansas has the seventh-lowest average in the nation.
