Steady 5-year enrollment increase at the University of Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — The University of Arkansas releases it has had a 22% increase during the last five years.

A census of students showed that for the fourth consecutive year, the U of A has set an overall enrollment record with 33,610 students, according to a news release. This is a 4.6% increase from last year.

The new record includes undergraduate, graduate and law students. The 2024-2025 freshman class is the second-largest in the school’s history with 6,614 students.

“Despite the controlled growth of the incoming class, overall enrollment has grown partially due to the university’s increasing retention rates, which have grown to 85% or above since 2020,” the news release states.

The Vice Provost for Enrollment and Dean of Admission, Suzanne McCray, said this year’s freshman class has the highest incoming GPA ever.

The university now has 4,355 graduate students enrolled, the second-largest graduate class. The law school enrolled more than 370 students for the second consecutive year, growing its total enrollment by 9% since 2019.

Enrollment numbers may change slightly as corrections are made, reviewed and officially reported by the Arkansas Department of Higher Education in October
