Huntsville man accused of shooting, injuring teen pleads not guilty

HUNTSVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — A Huntsville man accused of shooting and injuring a teen in July has pleaded not guilty, according to court documents.

Peyton Dodson, 30, was arrested on July 15 on an attempted capital murder charge and 10 counts of a terroristic act.

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office said around 8:53 p.m., it received multiple police calls about gunshots at an apartment complex on Madison 8662 Road.

Huntsville police officers and MCSO deputies responded to the incident and found Dodson within a large crowd in the parking lot of the complex, the department said.

An officer and a deputy engaged Dodson after multiple people identified him as the shooter.

The victim, an 18-year-old man, received medical treatment on the scene and was seen “bleeding heavily from a wound to a lower extremity,” MCSO said. He was taken to a nearby emergency trauma center for treatment.

Dodson is being held in the Madison County Detention Center on a $250,000 bond and has a hearing set for November 12.
