Pea Ridge High School stadium to be resurfaced

PEA RIDGE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Pea Ridge High School’s Blackhawk Stadium will undergo a major upgrade, including resurfacing the football field and installing a new hard-surface track.

At the September school board meeting, Pea Ridge School District Superintendent Keith Martin proposed these improvements, which the board approved, according to a news release from Pea Ridge School District . The field and track, both installed in 2013, are nearing the end of their 8- to 10-year lifespan.

Geo Surfaces will handle the renovations, which will add new striping on the field for both men’s and women’s soccer teams.

These upgrades aim to enhance athlete safety, support track and field events, and benefit the community, including local youth teams and residents, according to the release .

The track will close during construction, with closure dates to be announced.

Future plans for Blackhawk Stadium include installing a new sound system, paving near the concession stand and updating band seating in the north end zone.

The Pea Ridge School District communications team will provide updates as the project progresses.
