FORT SMITH, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Fort Smith police investigate an attempted robbery that happened between 9-9:30 a.m. in the 5500 block of Midland Boulevard on Sept. 13.

Police say the suspect is described as a white man wearing muddy shoes that used to be white, jeans and a gray hoodie pulled over his face.

The victim told police the suspect had a “salt and pepper” beard. The suspect reportedly pulled a small “snub-nosed revolver” on the victim and demanded them turn around and hand over his wallet.

Police say the suspect then fled into the wooded area behind the property.

Officers searched the woods near the scene and a camp was discovered, but nobody was found.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are reviewing video footage from nearby places.

Police ask anyone with information about the incident to call the Fort Smith Police Department at 479-709-5000.
