Bentonville School Board approves fifth athletic trainer

BENTONVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — The Bentonville School Board approved a proposal on Sept. 17 to hire a fifth athletic trainer.

There are more than 2,300 athletes between Bentonville High School and Bentonville West High School and more than 1,500 on the junior high level.

It also approved the transfer of $10 million from the operating fund to the building fund to save for future construction.

The board also discussed the annual bullying report which showed confirmed cases are up in the elementary, middle and junior high level this year.

The school board is also thinking ahead with the future growth of the district.

Superintendent Dr. Debbie Jones was also surprised with the Superintendent of the Year award by the Arkansas Association of School Administrators.

“The team of leaders that work with me to really support this school district, that’s who really deserves this award, that and the teachers that work hard every day,” Jones said. “I’m so thankful for this award, but there are a lot of people that really deserve this.”
