HOPE, Ark. – An interstate traffic stop resulted in a drug seizure by Arkansas State Police last week.

ASP officials said a trooper stopped an SUV near Mile Marker 28 on eastbound Interstate 30 in Hempstead County the morning of Sept. 17.

It used to be cocaine and a nut — how is cola flavored today?

Authorities said troopers found three bricks of cocaine wrapped in tape in a baby wipes box during a search of the SUV. The troopers reported that the total weight of the seized drugs was 8.4 pounds.

State officials said the driver of the SUV was taken into custody and transported to the Hempstead County Detention Center where they said he faced felony charges of trafficking a controlled substance.

Jail records show the driver was released Sept. 23 just after noon. An official with the Hempstead County prosecutor’s office said there are currently no charges filed against the driver.
