FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Fayetteville city planners have reversed an earlier decision and will now allow new apartments to be built off of Nelson Hackett Boulevard.

Two buildings totaling 138 units have been approved and it will take up about 1.3 acres.

The planning commission had denied the request previously.

Commissioners had concerns with the proposed number of units, which at the time was 163.

They also had concerns with traffic safety, citing a limited number of parking spots and the need for an additional lane of traffic for loading and unloading on Nelson Hackett Boulevard.
