Wildfire risk ramping up over NWA and the River Valley

The risk for wildfires continues to increase over Northwest Arkansas and the River Valley, prompting burn bans for several counties. As of Thursday morning Carroll, Madison, Johnson and Logan counties were all under burn bans, with more expected to come over the coming days. In addition, every single county along the I-49 and I-40 corridors are under a high risk of wildfires, with Scott county still holding on to a moderate risk.

Dry weather conditions are expected to continue for at least the next couple of weeks, which will likely lead to rapid drought onset for the entirety of Northwest Arkansas and the River Valley. Tune into KNWA Today or FOX24 News at 7 this morning for a look at the latest drought monitor!
