Arkansas gas prices continue seasonal drop in latest AAA report

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – AAA reports for the first week of October that Arkansas gas prices continue the seasonal drop.

The latest data showed that Arkansas gas prices are currently averaging $2.81 a gallon for regular. This price is 6 cents down from a week ago and 55 cents less than it was a year ago.

In central Arkansas, Little Rock – North Little Rock metro-area drivers are beating the state average at $2.77 per gallon. Hot Springs drivers are also below the state at $2.75. Pine Bluff drivers are paying the highest gas price in the state at $2.90, down from the week-ago average of $2.94.

The lowest prices in the state is in Randolph County, averaging $2.64 a gallon.

AAA officials point out that while gas prices continue to drop nationally, the escalating Middle East conflict has led to crude oil prices climbing. Still, crude is at $73 a barrel after being at $80 earlier this year.

AAA spokesperson Nick Chabarria attributed the ongoing drop to seasonal changes.

“We are in the time of year when prices normally drop after the end of the peak summer demand period,” Chabarria said. “Arkansas gas prices are unlikely to be impacted by the aftermath of Hurricane Helene or the port strike that began this week.”

AAA reports Arkansas has the seventh-lowest gas prices in the country. Nationally, gas prices average $3.19.
