Prairie Grove Junior High School student taken into custody after threat made

PRAIRIE GROVE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — The Prairie Grove School District says a junior high student was taken into custody after a social media threat was made against the school.

PGSD said in a Facebook post on Thursday night that it informed families about a Snapchat post by a student that included a “serious threat” against the school.

“Thanks to the quick actions of our students and staff, law enforcement was immediately notified,” the post said.

Authorities identified the student and took them into custody for questioning.

“As a precaution, we are taking extra safety measures to ensure a secure environment for everyone,” PGSD said in the post. “We want to reassure you that we are being diligent and working closely with law enforcement to maintain the safety of our schools as our top priority.”
