People in Malibu will be able to get the chance to tell Caltrans what they’d like Pacific Coast Highway to evolve into over the next three to 20 years.

Ryan Snyder, the executive liaison for special projects, told KNX News’ Pete Demetriou Caltrans will be in a listening mode.

“We want to hear from the public what types of modifications they are willing to see to the cross sections of PCH to make it safer and to better accommodate bicyclists and pedestrians and transit users,” Snyder said.

They’ll be listening to what residents have to say on what safety improvements can be made on the entire 22-mile stretch of PCH within the city of Malibu.

Snyder said this will be the first of three hearings – both online and virtual – that are expected to lead to modifications to allow for more bike paths, possible restrictions, and the installation of median strips where there are now turn lanes.

The first hearing is set to happen Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Malibu City Hall. There will also be a virtual meeting that people can register for online.
