Water main break closes lanes on La Cienega near WeHo

A water main break just outside West Hollywood was snarling traffic Monday on La Cienega Boulevard.

According to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, two southbound lanes of La Cienega were closed between Willoughby and Waring avenues, roughly halfway between Santa Monica Boulevard and Melrose Avenue.

DWP officials said northbound traffic was not impacted.

Crews were on the scene working to repair the break Monday afternoon. It was unclear how long the work was expected to take.

The break sent a stream of water cascading along the right side of the roadway, some spilling onto the adjacent sidewalk. There were no immediate reports of damage from the flooding.
