A section of Angeles Crest Highway will be closed on Tuesday in the Angeles National Forest for roadway repairs, Caltrans announced Monday.

The closure of the roadway, also known as State Route 2, will take place between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Tuesday between Mt. Wilson Red Box Road and Upper Big Tujunga Canyon Road.

"The highway will be closed to complete final work on slope and highway repairs from damage that occurred in March of 2023," Caltrans said in a statement. "If work is completed before 5 p.m. the highway will reopen earlier. This is a one-day closure."

An alternate route would be from Crest Highway to Angeles Forest Highway to Upper Big Tujunga Canyon Road and back to Angeles Crest Highway.

The section of Angeles Crest Highway from Islip Saddle to Vincent Gap also remains closed into November for emergency repairs from the winter of 2022/2023.
