Nine months after a man was killed in a gang-related shooting in South L.A. , police and the family of the victim are hoping a large cash reward will bring witnesses forward to identify the killers responsible.

KNX News' Pete Demetriou reports that Marquette Deon Scott Jr., 32, had just finished Christmas shopping on December 3rd and pulled into a Sinclair gas station at 85th and Hoover streets when a black and white Jeep Compass pulled in directly behind him.

Detective Gregg Fisher with the South Bureau Homicide Division said, "One suspect directed their attention toward Mr. Scott's location and fired multiple rounds at him while the other suspect walked over to the mini-mart and fired numerous rounds inside of the mini-mart at other pedestrians that were inside the location."

Scott, who was a father of four children and had no gang ties, died from his injuries. Another man was wounded and has recovered.

While detectives have clear video of the incident, Fisher says the suspects were masked and gloved, so they hope a $50,000 reward will help bring them to justice.

Police are hoping either a witness or someone who has heard talk about the shooting will come forward to aid South Bureau homicide detectives in finding those responsible.

Fisher said anybody who offers information leading to a suspect's identification, arrest, and conviction would be eligible for the reward.

Anyone with information regarding this case can call South Bureau Homicide Division detectives at (323) 786-5110 or go directly to www.lacrimestoppers.org to remain anonymous.
