Nearly 400 bottles of Xanax pills were recovered by officers from the California Highway Patrol's East Los Angeles station after a routine traffic stop turned into a brief pursuit, according to CHP Officer Lizarraga.

Around midnight Thursday, CHP officers tried to pull over an Infiniti vehicle near Whittier Boulevard and Boyle Avenue, but it failed to stop, leading to a brief chase, Lizarraga said.

After coming to a stop, the driver and a passenger abandoned the car with the pills and fled on foot. A helicopter was used to help find and detain them, he said.

Lizarraga told City News that two suspects were in custody, with charges pending. Their identities were not immediately made public.
