As reports of home invasions and burglaries in Southern California neighborhoods persist in the news cycle, one owner of a security company told KNX News he’s seeing a big increase in his business.

Scott Wagenseller, the CEO of Gates Security , described it as a “very active market out there.”

“Residents are very concerned along with business owners. They're calling us for cameras, alarm systems, [and] even uniformed guards and patrol service,” he said.

He added the Los Angeles Police Department is having a hard time responding to these crimes because of the lack of officers in the department.

“So this is an amazing degradation of our law enforcement's capabilities,” he said.
“So people are really depending on private security to be there and be a factor in preventing these problems, preventing them from becoming a victim.”

When it comes to his company, Wagenseller said Gates Security relies on the latest technology to keep customers and businesses safe.

“Our backlog in being able to install, convert, upgrade alarm systems and camera systems is growing every day,” he said. “And it's a matter of making sure that the alarm systems that our clients have are state of the art. The latest generation, Our camera systems have to have artificial intelligence capabilities for analytics. They need to be able to detect people that are getting onto our clients' properties.”

He added that not only are homeowners looking to boost their security, but also more public and private schools.
