Gas prices in LA County increase seven times in eight days

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose 1.3 cents Saturday to $4.593, its seventh increase in the last eight days.

The average price is 3.2 cents more than one week ago, but 3.2 cents less than one month ago and 77.9 cents less than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It has dropped $1.901 since rising to a record $6.494 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The Orange County average price rose 1.5 cents to $4.518. It is 2.9 cents more than one week ago, but 3.8 cents less than one month ago and 80 cents less than one year ago. The Orange County average price has dropped $1.941 since rising to a record $6.459 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The national average price dropped 1.1 cents for the second straight day, to $3.339, its 15th decrease in the last 17 days. It is 2.2 cents less than one week ago, 15.3 cents lower than one month ago and 48.6 cents less than one year ago. The national average price has dropped $1.677 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.

"The arrival of September means cheaper winter-blend gasoline is almost here, which always helps take pressure off pump prices," said Andrew Gross, an AAA national public relations manager.
