Los Angeles City Councilmember Katy Young Yaroslavsky could soon face an official recall effort.

A group of constituents in Council District 5, which includes parts of West and Central L.A., claim that Yaroslavsky’s policies “endanger the safety of families and livelihoods of businesses,” according to the recall campaign’s website .

Specifically, they fault Yaroslavsky for voting against enforcing 41.18 anti-camping zones to displace and arrest unhoused people. She’s also under fire for supporting the construction of a 33-unit interim housing project on what’s currently a city-owned parking lot.

The recall campaign hasn’t yet filed the paper work for an official recall petition.

A spokesperson for Yaroslavsky told KNX News, "Councilwoman Yaroslavsky respects the democratic process and the right of residents to voice their concerns, including through recall efforts. She and her team remain fully focused on serving the people of Los Angeles and the Fifth District. The Councilwoman is committed to addressing the needs of her constituents, ensuring public safety, and making meaningful progress on the homelessness crisis."

According to the California Secretary of State, there have been 180 recall attempts against California officials over the past century. Only six were successful. In recent years, recall campaigns against Councilmembers Kevin de León , Nithya Raman , and Mike Bonin have all failed.
