    'Airport Fire': Homes in Trabuco Canyon area under mandatory evacuation order

    The Airport Fire began Monday afternoon near Trabuco Canyon Road in the area of the remote-controlled airplane airport. By late-afternoon, Orange County Fire Authority officials said the blaze had spread to about 1,860 acres.

    A mandatory evacuation order was issued for Robinson Ranch, Trabuco Highlands, and Trabuco Highland Apartment Complex. Evacuation warnings were issued for residents of Rose Canyon Road, Trabuco Creek Road, Trabuco Canyon Road, Trabuco, Oaks Drive, Joplin Loop, and Cook's Corner.

    There was no immediate word on what sparked the fire, which burned amid a continuing heat wave and elevated fire danger conditions.

    A temporary evacuation site has been established at the Lake Forest Sports Complex - 28000 Vista Terrace .
