Another 54 homes in Rancho Palos Verdes lost power this week, and residents say they can't catch a break.

The entire Portuguese Bend neighborhood – about 140 homes – has been cut off from electricity, gas, and most recently internet due to ongoing land movement.

“That's a big complication because of not just entertainment, but because that was our internet, and my husband and I are each independent artists, so we are in communication with our clients,” resident Marianne Hunter told KNX News’ Nataly Tavidian.

Hunter said she set up Starlink for internet service, but setting up solar power comes with challenges.

“They said that it would be, you know, like three or four days to set up,” she said. “We're into our second week now, and that is because the system was designed to be set up while we were still hooked up to Edison.”

A resource center was set up for residents at the Ladera Linda Community Center. Jean O’Donnell with the Los Angeles County Office of Emergency Management said agencies including social services, public health, Southern California Edison, Cox Cable, and the city planning department are there to help residents with the next steps.
