Manhattan Beach police are warning people to be cautious when leaving valuables in their car after a brazen theft of $1 million in cash outside a school.

The theft happened on Sept. 13. The victim was reportedly transporting the hefty sum of cash while dropping off their kid at school. Detectives found a tracking device on the car, according to Manhattan Beach Sergeant Andre Abreu.

“So I would just say if you are, as I stated earlier, in that business of maybe carrying large amounts of cash or large amounts of jewelry or anything like that, you know, maybe just do a sweep of your car underneath,” he told KNX News’ Nataly Tavidian.

Anyone with information on the crime is asked to call the Manhattan Beach Police at  310-802-5133.
