Run for Myles is a nonprofit named for the late championship runner Myles Helm, who was a Palos Verdes resident. According to the organization, the funds raised for this year’s RPV Run For Myles event will go toward the Portuguese Bend Landslide Relief Fund managed by the Rotary Club of Palos Verdes Peninsula.

While the Portuguese Bend Landslide has been creeping along for years, its movement has become increasingly dire for local residents recently.
A state of emergency has been declared in Rancho Palos Verdes, and residents have been cut off from gas and internet as officials look for solutions.

Those who participated in the run were a safe distance from the area impacted by the landslide, said the Run for Myles group. Those who were not able to attend can still make donations through the group’s website .
