Los Angeles City Parks celebrated the retirement of a beloved equine officer on Wednesday.

Sherman, a mounted horse with the city’s Park Rangers Mounted Unit, officially retired following a 16-year career.

Sgt. Sean Kleckler with the L.A. City Park Rangers told KNX News’ Nataly Tavidian that the 25-year-old horse is a special one.

“He's only known being a city park ranger mounted officer,” he said. “I mean, he's spent his entire career here. So everywhere we have over 420 parks in the city of Los Angeles. He's probably visited most of them, most of our recreation centers.”
