MCDONALD COUNTY, Mo. (KOAM) - Rebecca Lilly is a McDonald County Senior and a playwright.

Her most recent endeavor has been to bring one of her scripts to life on the Mcdonald County stage. Lilly says the show address the concept of writer's block, the inability to begin or continue writing for reasons other the lack of basic skill or knowledge.

"I Actually wrote the show in one night, spontaneously, through dinner with my parents. I was like, oh, I would love to write a story about an author with writer's block. Because that's where I was. And I was like, that's a perfect way to go on a writer's block," said Lilly.

"I mean, Alonha my main character and Melanie, my princess, they have been so like they've been so supportive and so excited all year to do it. They're just great. I love those girls. They're amazing," said Lilly.

Alonha Frisby who play the main character in the show gives credit where it's due and says that being a part of this show has been an unforgettable experience.

"It's just her energy, her energy... It's so, like, flamboyant. And she just has a beautiful soul. And she knows a lot. She's very knowledgeable [] The creative process and everything. It's just it was wonderful seeing the show being put together. And it's just a wonderful opportunity that this department gets to put this on. It's really an honor," said Frisby.

additional praises come from Rebecca's teacher Wyatt Hester who said that this experience is one that he wishes he could give to every student. With Rebecca being the first student director in Hester's tenure.

"Rebecca always follows through with whatever she's going to do, and she does it excellently well. And I knew that that would be the case once we got into this. I'm just glad we found a place during the year to put the play so that, you know, it worked beautifully with everything else that we were doing," said Hester.

Rebecca went on to say that she plans on going to college for creative writing and wants to continue to find things that she enjoys and that fulfill her.
