Wyandotte Girls Basketball squeaks by Afton

FAIRLAND, Okla. - The Afton Lady Eagles meet the Wyandotte Lady Bears for the Class 2A Area IV Regional High School Girls Basketball tournament. Both teams won their respective district games in order to advance to this stage.

Wyandotte got out to an 8-point lead at halftime, but Afton got back in the game late in the second half. The Lady Eagles led by 1 point with under a minute remaining in the game. Haley Jones and Laken McCoy each hit all their free throws in back-to-back possessions to give Wyandotte a 3-point lead with 6 seconds left in the game.

Brynlea Collins had the game winning blocked three point shot to give Wyandotte the win. Lady Bears hold on for a 38-35 victory.

Wyandotte will advance to the Class 2A Area IV Regional finals. The game is scheduled for Saturday at 6 pm. The Lady Bears have also secured a spot in the Area playoffs. Afton will go to the consolation bracket of regionals.
