Local students meet, learn from Joplin author and illustrator

FRONTENAC, Kan. (KOAM) -- Local elementary students spent their morning visiting with a Joplin-based author during a Young Authors Conference.

The conference included students K-5th grades in the Frontenac USD 249 district and featured Joplin Author, Izzy B and Illustrator Ben Askew.

According to the Young Author Conference Organizer, Tim Vesco, students had the opportunity listen to Izzy and Askew's book "The Mighty McKracken", ask questions, and receive autographs.

Students were also able to share their own stories, select students were awarded for their submissions.

Vesco says the Frontenac Education Foundation (FEF) purchased a copy of "The Mighty McKracken" for every student that participated in the conference.
