Diamond beats Mt. Vernon 5-3, wins district championship

MT. VERNON, Mo. -- Diamond High School softball takes down Mt. Vernon 5-3 in the class 2 district 6 championship game on Tuesday evening.

The Lady Wildcats advance to the class 2 state quarterfinals.

The win improves Diamond's record to 35-1. This past week, the Lady Wildcats picked up their lone loss of the season -- 10-0 at Frontenac (KS).

"We've had a pretty tough season with some really close games," Diamond head coach Kelsey Parrish says. "We went over to Frontenac and got a little reality check, and now we're back at it... I'm so proud of my girls."

The Lady Wildcats will face Forsyth (17-15) in the class 2 quarterfinals on Tuesday, May 14th.
