MSSU Baseball wins MIAA Tournament Championship

PITTSBURG, Kan. - For the second consecutive season, the Missouri Southern Lions face the Central Missouri Mules in the MIAA Tournament Championship.

The Lions and Mules combined for 34 total runs as Missouri Southern won the game 18-16. MSSU relief pitcher held the Mules scoreless in the final three frames of the ballgame.

MSSU wins the conference tournament title for the first time since 2015, it's their third in program history.

"Pitching did outstanding at the end of the ballgame," says MSSU 3rd Baseman Will Doherty, "we came up in big spots. Such a big team win today and I'm very thankful for all of that."

"We talk about just fighting, just keep competing," said MSSU head coach Bryce Darnell, " hopefully after nine innings we're on the winning side. But it worked out today and just the message of keep fighting, keep fighting, keep fighting. We say you're never out to the fight, is what we tell our guys and that was evident today."
