PARSONS, Kan. -- The Parsons Vikings enter the 2024 season coming off the most successful season under 5th year head coach Jeff Schibi. Parsons finished the regular season with a 7-1 record and went on to finish the year 9-2 after a playoff loss in the state quarterfinals round.

The Vikings lost a lot of leadership from players who went on to graduate and play at the collegiate level, however, Parsons returns multiple players with experience in the defensive side of the ball.

"People are probably expecting us to have a little bit of a drop off," said coach Schibi, "after losing so many valuable seniors, losing some college football players. We're expecting our defense to really lead us and keep us in a lot of ball games. Especially while we have some new starters on the offensive side of the football."

"We definitely want to get back to where we were last year," defensive back Jason Smart says, "get farther than that. But I think it's just to show everyone that we're still the same team we were last year."

"I think with the young talent we have right now, it's going to be good," said offensive lineman Korbyn Harris, "we haven't had people step up at a young age like this in awhile. They're doing really good too, they're learning, they're listening, it's going to help us out a lot."

Parsons gets the 2024 campaign rolling with a road contest at Labette County. The Week 1 game is scheduled for Sep. 6, at 7:00 pm.
