    September hunting seasons kick off afcross Kansas

    (KOAM) - As September arrives, hunters across Kansas are gearing up for the start of various hunting seasons. From elk and deer to dove and teal, this month offers a wide range of opportunities for enthusiasts to engage in their favorite outdoor activities.

    Here are the key hunting seasons for September:

    • Snipe : September 1, 2024 – December 16, 2024
    • Elk Season (Outside Fort Riley) - Muzzleloader : September 1, 2024 – September 30, 2024
    • Elk Season (Fort Riley) - Muzzleloader/Archery : September 1, 2024 – September 30, 2024
    • Dove Season (Mourning and Whitewing) : September 1, 2024 – November 29, 2024
    • Rail : September 1, 2024 – November 9, 2024
    • Deer Season - Youth and Disability : September 7, 2024 – September 15, 2024
    • Teal - Low Plains : September 14, 2024 – September 29, 2024
    • Greater Prairie Chicken Regular Season : September 15, 2024 – January 31, 2025
    • Deer Season - Muzzleloader : September 16, 2024 – September 29, 2024
    • Deer Season - Archery : September 16, 2024 – December 31, 2024
    • Elk Season (Outside Fort Riley) - Archery : September 16, 2024 – December 31, 2024

    With such a variety of seasons, hunters are reminded to review regulations, secure the necessary permits, and practice safety in the field. This month’s lineup offers something for every hunter, whether pursuing big game or small, and promises to be an exciting start to the fall hunting season.

    According to the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks, and Tourism, Kansas residents ages 16 and older can now participate in a free online Hunter Education Course .
